March 5, 2001-March 12, 2001

This picture was taken by Nick about ten minutes before Nicholas died. We got to hold him during the last few minutes of his life. Those moments were very special for all three of us. We were able to be with him as he died. We were happy because we knew he would not suffer, but we were also tremendously sad letting him go. It physically hurt when Nick took him from my arms after he had taken his last breath.
